Full Job Description:
In compliance with state and federal regulations, performs data entry and patient registration. Responsible for resolving third-party rejections and responding to high-volume customer inquiries, working under direct supervision. Follows standard operating procedures and performs duties in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and medication information. Duties may vary depending on the assigned department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Using Walgreens prescription data entry guidelines and procedures, process new patient enrollment by entering data into the appropriate system.
- Handles patient prescription requests according to HIPAA guidelines and enters refill orders for processing. Troubleshoot missing prescription information and interpret medical abbreviations (SIG codes). Resolves all data entry exceptions.
- Manages correspondence with patients (incoming calls, chat, emails) and makes outgoing calls to prescribers and patients as needed.
- Resolves third-party rejections by reviewing, gathering information, making corrections, and resubmitting for processing based on individual plan requirements. Call insurers and others to get information, get cancellation approval, or resolve third-party denials.
- Provides support to pharmacists, both on-site and off-site. Identify and communicate issues to higher level personnel as appropriate. You must obtain an active technician license or certification within the first 90 days and maintain an active technician license or certification.
Basic Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer skills (for example: turning the computer on and off, using the mouse to point and click, starting and closing programs, switching between programs, saving files, printing documents, and/or accessing information online) .
- Basic search engine skills to include opening a browser, typing URLs in the correct location, using a search engine, bookmarking a site, navigating using forward/back buttons /stop and completing online forms.
- Intermediate keyboard skills (at least 25 wpm, typing, document formatting).
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a Pharmaceutical Technician in a retail or call center environment.
- At least 18 months as a Pharmacy Technician with a state certificate/registration issued by the State Board of Pharmacy or a nationally recognized certification body.
- Experience in providing customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality service standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.
- Intermediate to advanced keyboard skills (at least 35 wpm, typing, document formatting).
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
