Main Functions:
The Director of Environmental Sustainability will be responsible for coordinating and supporting United’s decarbonization team to achieve the company’s climate goals. This role is responsible for the technical oversight of United’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) program, as well as working with industry peers to ensure compliance with industry standards, compliance and oversight. and the reduction measures necessary to expand SAF to a wider market. The CEO will also work with United Airlines Ventures to increase investment in a portfolio of clean technology solutions that will one day increase to help United meet its climate goals. Support other assigned tasks. Support United Airlines Ventures’ SAF investment portfolio – Support United Airlines Ventures’ efforts to invest in sustainable technologies to accelerate the business, especially for SAF production and supply.
Support management and technical and environmental analysis, providing analysis as necessary to determine the potential environmental benefits of investment. Contribute to SAF efforts across the industry – Ensure consistency of standards across the industry and engage in manufacturing processes to measure sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Promote standardization, transparency and transition to a low-carbon SAF. Manage existing vendor portfolio – Work with existing vendors to maintain ongoing SAF supply.
Appropriately support portfolio companies and SAF’s business efforts. Set individual goals that align with the United States’ climate goals: zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Use technical knowledge and experience to provide effective decision-making and direction in the implementation of United’s climate policies and programs. Focus on solutions and commitment to creating and supporting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
