This teaching position is located at an alternative education campus at the Texas Neuro Rehabilitation Center in south Austin. Students in the self-contained classroom range from 1st grade to 6th grade. 100% of students are in special education and thus it is crucial for the teacher candidate to have a special education EC-12 certification. This is a year-round (11 months, 194 days) position from August 1st to June 30. A new hire for this position will be required to attend paid new employee orientation on July 30, 2024 in Austin, Texas.

 

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Effectively plan and use appropriate instructional interventions, strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to add educational value for each student. ESL, GT, at-risk, etc.
  • Comply with UT-UCS curriculum standards and all relevant policies and procedures UT, UT-UCS, and campus. Implement each student’s IEP and 504 accommodations as stated.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with the principal, professional support personnel, teachers, facility staff, parents, and students.
  • Manage student behavior effectively and in accordance with the treatment plan if applicable, the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
  • Conduct ongoing, formal, and informal assessment of student learning. Utilize data effectively to inform instruction.
