This operational risk partner invests in the future of Southwest’s workforce through the development, implementation and management of operational risk management systems, with a focus on our Safety & Security , Ground Operations and Cargo Department. This role works with members and leaders of these departments to oversee the risk management process and the regulations of the FAA Safety Management System. Communicate all aspects of operational risk management both verbally and in writing to all levels of management and staff
Conduct cross-functional risk assessments and help ensure mitigation measures are implemented as necessary
Design, organize and coordinate with all SWA departments the definition of risk management in accordance with legal requirements and company standards.
Develop and maintain risk management systems and related reporting systems and databases on risk management of SWA projects
Manage relationships with safety, regulatory and compliance representatives from all functional units, regulators and governing bodies (e.g. FAA, ICAO, DOD) regarding the development and management of SWA SMS Risk Management
Manage the research, analysis and development of risk identification/management processes to improve SWA security
Oversees the quality of SWA’s risk management process and operational outcomes
Develop SRM documentation and documentation, including developing and delivering training related to SRM
May perform other duties as assigned by senior staff

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 5 Safety Management System
Ability to use MS Office 365 (eg Word, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Expertise in design and great attention to detail
Ability to work with others as part of a team and communicate effectively face-to-face, in writing and on the phone
Ability to handle sensitive information with limited confidentiality and meet company expectations for confidential, proprietary and sensitive information.
