Senior DevOps Engineer – National Salary Circa £55,000, London Salary Circa £65,000.

A bit about the job:

Our Hosting Engineering team are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our tech driven team. An ideal candidate should want to work in a close nit, motivated and growing team. You should value quality work and continuous improvement. We are looking for engineers who can think for themselves and who want to take ownership of the services that they work on and manage. We aim to celebrate success and take every opportunity to help our engineers grow both in their role and in the business.

In your role, you will identify, define, and implement service improvements across our Cloud Platform, whilst promoting our Engineering Practice, proposing innovative solutions or alternative approaches to challenging technical issues.

You should be someone who is comfortable using Windows and Linux and has experience working in a cloud environment, or a large on-prem deployment. We put Infrastructure as Code first and any experience in Terraform, Ansible or Python is desirable but not essential.

Aviva operates a “smart working” policy meaning that we spend approximately half of our time working in an office, including being added to a callout rota that would be paid in line with Aviva’s standby/call out rates. This role is based in Norwich, Eastleigh, Perth, York, or London.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Proficient in either AWS or Azure technologies and running a platform at scale.
  • Someone who is a first-class communicator and values clear communication.
  • Be able to articulate complex technical problems and has strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Is keen to deliver first-class engineering discipline with the ability to translate business problems into technical solutions.
  • Has knowledge of Application Support and Development processes.

  • National Salary Circa £55,000, London Salary Circa £65,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
