This team is primarily responsible for managing enterprise risk across the customer lifecycle and across all of our global products. We develop industry-first data capabilities, build cost-effective decision-making systems, develop predictive models based on machine learning, and improve customer service strategies. The team has delivered industry-leading results every year while driving profitable growth and delivering the best customer experience.

The group is organized into four main activities:

Credit Risk Strategy: Analyze credit portfolios and optimize risk management decisions that drive value at all stages of a customer’s credit lifecycle.
Fraud Strategy: Develop anti-fraud strategies on behalf of our clients
You will work in a dynamic and exciting environment and have the opportunity to develop plans and strategies for American Express products and services. You will play a key role by working with your colleagues from other risk management, marketing, finance, operations, legal, compliance, banking and technology teams to develop strategies and capabilities of the world.

The main responsibilities of the Credit or Risk Strategy colleagues include:

Develop and continuously improve policies, procedures and controls to reduce credit risk exposure and prevent fraud
Create quantitative analysis to determine the thresholds of consumers and businesses that can get money (for example: who is approved for a card, how much credit do they get, and when they swipe their card, are their transactions approved? )
Design communication and customer service processes to support risk management strategies, ensuring a positive experience at every customer touch point
Identify, analyze and integrate new data sources and capabilities into decision making
Analyze big data to identify emerging credit trends and uncover new fraud patterns
Collaborate with other teams and companies to coordinate processes
Maintain an effective control environment and respond proactively to performance failures

Eligibility:

An advanced degree (eg MS, PhD, or MBA) in a quantitative field such as economics, statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering, or computer science.
An advanced degree is preferred but not required to be an appropriate combination of formal education and work experience
Experience in credit/fraud risk management and understanding of the credit cycle is preferred
A combination of analytical skills, process skills, project management and relationship building skills
Ability to manipulate large data sets using SAS, SQL, R, Python or other similar programming languages
Thought leadership and solution-oriented thinking
Ability to think critically and apply both quantitative methods and business acumen to deliver results
Ability to build strong relationships in the work environment
Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
