Our global tax litigation team plays a vital role in the success of our business. We are looking for a Global Controversies Analyst, reporting to the Managing Director, Global Tax Controversies. The ideal candidate will have experience in the field of law and tax systems in the United States. Experience in tax litigation is a plus, as is experience in transfer pricing or foreign tax disputes (including experience communicating with competent authorities), but there will be significant opportunities to gain knowledge and exposure to foreign tax laws and regulations over time.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating our response to federal investigations in the United States, working with colleagues around the world on foreign investigations, and legal and tax investigations. You will also be involved in developing tax litigation processes, as well as communicating and collaborating with working business partners with a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels. The successful candidate will be highly organized, able to analyze complex tax matters and procedures and able to communicate effectively between tax authorities and internal stakeholders.

Work
Analyze complex tax issues, prepare technical documentation and participate in special projects and provide assistance as needed.
Support the day-to-day operations of the US federal income tax audit, adjudication process, and litigation. Review and process responses to requests for disclosure documents and requests for information from tax authorities.
Communicate regularly with your tax professionals to understand, discuss and help resolve complex tax issues. Participate in the monitoring of tools to track and analyze global audit conditions and global tax risks.
Ensure adequate and timely reporting and resolution of tax audits. Coordinates with subject matter experts (SMEs) and conducts research on a wide variety of US, international, and transfer tax assessments to support tax filing requirements.
Advises on global tax disputes.
Eligibility:
Juris Doctor (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
5+ years of relevant experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or corporate tax department, or a combination of higher education and work experience (e.g., JD plus 3 years in a law firm). Experience with controversial issues in the United States, including research.
Experience with one of the IRS’s independent reporting agencies, competent authorities (APA or MAP) or litigating is a plus, as is experience in foreign tax disputes. Ability to multitask and create high quality work products in a fast paced environment.
Strong understanding of the basics of US and international corporate income tax. Appreciation of the concept of indirect tax, service tax and property tax.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with external consultants.
