Full Job Description:

Multimedia Editing Support Technician I manage and support the post-production, editing and sound/music departments of Walt Disney Animation Studios. Primarily a frontline/level support, this role distributes and supports Pro Tools and Avid systems, peripherals, and other tools for music/audio editing, editing, and users. Media Editorial Support Technicians work closely with technical teams and studio stakeholders to ensure program requests and editorial workflow requirements are met on time. This position is administered by IATSE Local 700, a collective bargaining agreement.

Role:

Support:

Direct support for editing, post-production and audio/music editing and specialized systems in digital audio video (DAW) workstations.

Maintain inventory and spare parts for repair and post-production audio equipment, including pre-production/post-production computer workstations, Pro Tools or Avid hardware and peripherals. Work closely with journalists and post-production staff to resolve ongoing issues with Pro Tools and Avid software and in-house production equipment.

Support for post-production and storage maintenance. Mainly Avid Nexis systems, but also tools like Signiant, Storage DNA, Soundminer, etc. Gain and maintain expertise in existing and future Walt Disney Animation Studios audio and video editing and programming projects.

Tech Studio Partnerships:

By working closely with the post-production sound, music and editing teams, we have gained expertise in the flow of data between production systems, external facilities and outside vendor sides. Manage and build relationships with vendors and post-production hardware vendors (such as Avid) to test software releases and updates and conduct negotiations with Walt Disney Animation Studios vendors and users to resolve The problems. We work closely with Studio Technology’s editorial support team to prepare responses and services.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • 3+ years of technical and/or engineering experience supporting Pro Tools or similar digital audio workstations (DAWs) in large commercial studio environments.
  • Avid Certified Support Representative (ACSR) or equivalent certification with Pro Tools, Media Composer and/or Nexis.
  • Knowledge of audio/video concepts Signal flow, color space, video and audio codecs/formats, signals such as HD/SDI, AES, analog audio and video.
  • System administration experience (including Windows and Macintosh OS).
  • In-depth knowledge of monitors and display technologies (such as LCD, OLED, 2D/3D, etc.).
  • Experience with data transfer tools (eg Signiant, Faspex, Aspera).
  • Basic knowledge of IP network infrastructure. Know the calibration of the system.
  • able to provide strategic plans; Subtasks, BOM, time/work, re-prioritize if needed.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills and analytical problem solving skills.
  • The ability to lift the body 40 pounds. Ability to work flexibly when needed.
