Full Job Description:

Data Center Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) are Amazon’s front-line responders for electrical and mechanical operations and troubleshooting. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, standby diesel generators, distribution boards/switchgears, inverters, PDUs, AHUs, pumps, motors, VFDs, and plant automation systems. They offer 24/7 shift coverage which can include 12 hour shifts, rotating shifts, 3, 4 or 5 day work weeks.

Functions:

· Operates and maintains mechanical, electrical, generator and fire/life safety in the data center
Identify infrastructure resources and level activities within internal SLAs
Perform minor maintenance tasks including filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installations, rack PDUs, and rack ATS replacement.
Provide support for data center operators
Perform root cause analysis for equipment failure
· Ensure that all safety procedures are followed while working
· Write a formula
Working 12 hours (rotating 3 and 4 day work days or nights)
Take daily performance readings of all electrical and electronic components from a cycle/regular schedule to include but not limited to temperature, voltage, current, etc. Use an in-house CMMS to manage building processes and applications quickly
Supervises contractors who are working or preventing
Respond to emergency calls after hours and on call basis for any situation in the area
Follow all physical safety procedures and policies
Drive innovation while reducing operational and resource costs
Handle small wires and objects

Perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodation:

o Walk around construction sites on hard terrain
o Works in extreme weather
o Works at heights and from ladders
o Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 39 pounds; and participate in group lifting for 40 pounds or more
o Bending or twisting the body in unusual positions during work
o Pushing or pulling heavy objects into position
o Works in a noisy environment

This position requires the nominee to be a US citizen and must have a current Secret Security clearance. This position requires that upon initiation, the nominee will obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance to work on the polygraph and meet other security related requirements. During your application, you will be asked an eligibility question that will only be used in connection with the US government security clearance required for this job.

Eligibility Criteria:

3+ years experience maintaining equipment or electrical
Electrical or mechanical systems experience working in a critical environment (ie, data center, telecom, etc.)
Knowledge of building management systems (BMS/EPMS)

Eligibility Of Candidates:

Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
4+ years of data center engineering experience
Basic knowledge of network design and configuration and low voltage cabling (copper/fiber)
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (excel, word) and web-based business applications
Familiarity with BMS and EPMS monitoring systems and data collection/processing
Knowledge of maintenance management software
· Strong leadership and organizational skills
· Full eyes
Self-initiated
· Ability to work independently and work with limited direction
· Ability to set priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment
Civil engineering license(s) such as DC II, DC III or equivalent
Electric or mechanical passenger license
CFC license (Universal or at least Type II)
NFPA 70E certified
