We are part of the Data Intelligence and Machine Learning (SIML) team at Apple. We are responsible for creating high quality, large ML datasets that are used to train ML models that enable AI-centric features for many Apple products (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and even AirPods). These features range from smart wallpapers on your iPhone’s lock screen, to templates featuring your favorite faces in your Photos app, to input experiences

5+ years of industry experience leading data engineering teams building data pipelines or data processing infrastructure, or performing data operations (experience with Airflow, KubeFlow or other pipelining tools)
Demonstrated track record of hiring, mentoring and developing engineers, and building a strong software engineering culture
Great persistence and passion for supporting daily data operations
Proficiency in Python or other modern programming languages
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work well with other non-engineering data service teams
Independent, able to manage ambiguity, identify risks, solve problems and find the right people and tools to do the job.

Explanation:

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and planning our organization’s ML data engine, with a focus on the first ML agile data OPs. This includes identifying infrastructure and data collection to use, designing and creating pipelines between data systems and teams, automation, data visualization and tools, optimization and monitoring tools.

Your data engineering team will use these systems to support end-to-end data processes related to collection / interpretation / QA operations, rapidly delivering high-quality data to the ML team, ensuring traceability and publication of data items, and enforcing compliance with agreement. and administrative work. You will work with the SIML data and ML team to analyze data engineering needs related to ML deployment projects. You will follow and influence the roadmap of the teams building the infrastructure blocks we rely on (such as security and scoring platforms), to contribute to the first ML data engine. You will also work closely with our data science team to ensure we provide highly representative data.
