This role is your opportunity to join a dynamic, information security organization of over 800 people. In the area of cybersecurity, AMEX has invested heavily in protecting its brand. This is a vision supported by the senior management of the organization. In this senior role, you will be responsible for managing and executing various DevOps projects as part of a large enterprise-wide cybersecurity initiative.
American Express is seeking a Senior API Security Engineer with strong, proven skills and leadership to contribute to the success of its global API Security operations. Senior API Security Engineers are API security experts and play a key role in managing, monitoring, and reporting on API security risk mitigation. Senior API Security Engineers support the practices of security champions by evangelizing API security principles and controls.
Important Role:
- Regularly manage and track API owners to meet threat requirements.
- Build, deliver, and maintain the latest API security standards and designs. Validate API security control implementations against the output of vulnerability testing tools to enable auditability and verifiability.
- Serve as an API security technical advisor to the application team. Evangelize API security design.
- Be recognized in your organization as an expert in API security.
At least:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in API security, secure application design and development practices.
- 3+ years of web API and web application development and security (REST, SOAP, gRPC).
- 3+ years of experience in web services and web API security testing.
- 3+ years of experience in threat modeling for applications and services.
- 3+ years of experience in risk management, security architecture and security SDLC practices.
- 3+ years of experience in API identity management and access control: OAuth 2.0, ODC, JWT
- Over 3 years of experience with industry norms and standards: NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, OWASP, SANS Top 25.
- 3+ years of experience in database architecture: Oracle, SQL and NoSQL databases.
