The national merchant group sits within Global Merchant and Network Services, which acquires and manages relationships with millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express. The international sales team is responsible for servicing the largest US customers and plans. The position of Senior Director, Customer Management – Travel and Entertainment allows leverage strong relationship management, consultative sales, strategic thinking and new skills to drive more American Express spend with customers , while working with a stimulating and cooperative environment. This is a unique, high-level opportunity for an experienced relationship manager to oversee a +$12B portfolio of some of our largest clients and strategic partners in entertainment companies such as Disney, Netflix and Ticketmaster.
This position is for a professionally qualified business leader who can support high level and complex initiatives with multiple high touch points across the business. A strong strategic background, innovative thinking skills, strong financial and analytical skills and the ability to lead in a fast-paced and highly complex matrix environment are required.
Various Services Include:
Business Development: Drives the growth of billing, revenue and profit by leveraging deep knowledge of the customer’s business/industry and American Express products and services
Negotiation: Create new partnerships and negotiate profitable business deals for card acceptance and sales contracts
Strategy Development: uncover opportunities to increase revenue in American Express products through new marketing and partnership opportunities and the creation of profitable deals, value drivers, and pricing positions. P&L Management: maximize customer value and create differentiated pricing strategies and strategic growth plans.
Relationship Management: Develop and improve relationships between American Express and the customer to identify and implement solutions to grow and expand market share.
Minimum Qualifications:
An experienced Relationship Manager with a proven ability to build strong customer relationships, sell programs and strategies B2C or B2B, and uncover new opportunities to grow revenue and share.
Must demonstrate leadership presence internally and externally, with the ability to lead high-level conversations with clients to influence decision-making and deliver results. Demonstrate a strong sense of curiosity to generate ideas, solve problems and identify new opportunities for business growth
Ability to influence others and work collaboratively with Amex members to ensure seamless integration with key partners in the areas of member benefits, sales, finance, pricing, risk, operations and legal services.
Demonstrated sales skills with proven ability to close deals and deliver results in a timely manner
Negotiation experience, understanding of financial aspects of card acceptance, corporate economics, profit drivers and knowledge of financial statements
Must be highly results-oriented, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of a team.
Strong verbal, written and analytical skills; the ability to effectively control surface flow.
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA an asset. Job may require future travel (25%)
