Full Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Data Center Engineering Technician to be a technical resource in our critical data center. This position requires candidates to be self-directed and highly motivated. The Engineering Operations Officer (EOT) will be part of the Data Center Engineering Operations team responsible for the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical and lighting/security equipment of the data center. EOTs are Amazon’s first-line responders for troubleshooting and hands-on electrical work and equipment. The rating will help ensure availability and reliability are sufficient to meet or exceed specified service levels. Due to the success and rapid expansion of our infrastructure team, we are recruiting the right candidates to operate/manage these companies. Successful candidates will be expected to be actively involved in corporate restructuring and operational improvements to help deliver better value to Amazon customers.

Functions:

• Assists in the operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical and HVAC equipment within the data center/office. This software supports critical servers and will maintain more than 99.999% availability.
• Monitoring of all data center processes including events/events, problems, changes, monitoring, problem escalation/status/resolution, and all other aspects of data center support. • Visual inspection of mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems including but not limited to; generators, switches, UPS systems, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, VFDs and home automation systems.
• Respond as a first line responder to electrical and equipment outages that arise on site. • Assist contractors or data center engineers with all equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Assist the contractor or data center engineer to deliver new equipment, such as roofing, cabling and other necessary services.
• Conducts site visits to assess the performance of infrastructure and quality monitoring systems

Skills:

• Ability to maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by implementing troubleshooting and real time response. • Ability to follow process documentation and follow issues through appropriate entry in the trouble ticket process.
• Demonstrate common sense and instinct in decision making. • Prioritizes appropriately in a complex and fast-paced environment.
• Be proactive and work collaboratively with other support teams to improve resolution of problems encountered
• Ability to follow instructions from a directed work process and/or team leader.

Eligibility Criteria

• Education/Business or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical field
• Demonstrate electrical skills and performance (practical in theory)
• Willingness to travel between data centers and internationally as required
• strong computer skills; experience and knowledge of MS Office suite.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
• Full valid driving licence

DISCLAIMER WANTED

• One year experience as a qualified electrician or engineer after qualification. • 1+ years of experience in operations and call support for a data center / or manufacturing / production company is essential
• Professional certification in electrical engineering or control management
• Working knowledge of indoor equipment such as chillers, cooling units and fan controls.
• Working knowledge of electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers and electrical distribution panels. • Be familiar with the use of CMMS and support systems.
• Working knowledge of standby generator systems
