The Netflix Design Foundations team is looking for a Systems Designer to help shape the next phase of Hawkins, our design system.
The Purpose Of This Role:
– Create design patterns at scale by researching and identifying shared opportunities across multiple product design teams
– Move seamlessly between the core components of our system and higher-level functions across the ecosystem. As a Systems Designer in the team, you will work closely with Product Design, Engineering, Content Design and Design Operations organisations.
You must be passionate about delivering quality at scale and bring organizational vision, structure and leadership to help teams succeed.
what Are You Going To Do
Collaborate with engineers to understand new product decisions, rebuild the system once validated, and extend it into engineering.
Maintain, improve, document and evolve our design libraries for different user needs. Develop for accessibility early in the creative design process and drive inclusive experiences across all platforms.
Clearly communicate launches to extended stakeholders, streamlining decisions based on data, brand bias or accessibility. Create a collaborative work environment that allows our design partners to create new experiences with our design system with confidence.
Manage the entire lifecycle of component design, tokenization, and publishing for designers through our system’s Figma libraries.
More than 5 years of experience designing products building experiences for end customers
5+ years of experience building a centralized or distributed design system in a company with 40+ designers
In-depth systems experience to get you started designing and publishing tokens and higher-level components and models
Ability and desire to flex up and down to inform strategic decisions and to perform detailed practical work
Strong demonstration of visual mastery and attention to detail.
Ability to effectively navigate ambiguity, build alignment and influence colleagues
Excellent communication skills to articulate decisions and reasons.
An understanding of the broader design systems community with a desire to innovate next generation systems, tools and workflows.
Strong technical understanding to communicate effectively with engineering.
Understanding of driving accessible solutions at scale, across all platforms
Experience in developing and evolving the brand through a design system.
